Administrative law regulates the actions of government officials, agencies and tribunals that exercise authority delegated to them by the Parliament of Canada or the provincial legislatures.
Ethos represents clients in cases before a variety of administrative tribunals, including the Workers Compensation Board of British Columbia the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal the federal Review Tribunals for CPP Benefits and the Labour Relations Board, among others.
Monique also acts as counsel before the Courts in judicial review proceedings of administrative actions and decisions. Monique's notable judicial review cases include Lalli v. Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal (2010) and Cowburn v. British Columbia (Workers’ Compensation Board) (2006). Lalli overturned a Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal decision denying benefits to a widow for her spouse’s death on the job, while Cowburn resulted in more than $4 million dollars in new benefits being paid to retired workers with deteriorating conditions from workplace accidents and occupational diseases.
Katrina handles a variety of administrative law matters including appearing before administrative tribunals on prison law or mental health cases, as well as public inquiries.
